Just this week I read a few articles about all things fashion related that could be bad for your health. First I saw an article in thestar.com that talked about how recent tests of popular lipstick brands are showing significant amounts of lead. Hardly the type of thing anybody wants to read about or find in lipstick.
So first thing is first, you can find numerous articles of lipstick found in lead and you can read that here as well. For an industry that is literally worth billions it is shocking that female politicians don't demand that these billion dollar makeup corporations live up to higher standards and not charge the most for their product while producing it for the least amount of money.
There there is the lead found in vinyl bags and fake leather. It is noted that there have been some lawsuits as a result of these lead traces for Target and Macy's. It seems consumers are stuck with choices that they are not even sure if they know which ones they are making.
What is worse is that younger girls are picking up on these fashion trends and girls under 10 are starting to wear more make up and care way too much about fashion these days. It is sad knowing that unless fashion and makeup business get regulated these girls are going to be the ones stuck with the problems of lead contamination. Lead is surprisingly everywhere but it doesn't need to be that way.
