Let's be honest, what is Ricky Gervais doing with his life at the moment? Probably a whole lot of nothing. So when Ricky decided to chip in with his voice on a PETA commercial (read it here) we have to ask why he did this. Was it because he honestly believes in the values of what PETA stands for or is he doing this just as a tool to try to revive some resemblance to a career? Unless someone knows Ricky personally and can speak up, it is probably on the side of doing it just for media.
I can imagine the phone call already
Agent: Ricky, wake up, it's 1pm already I have some work for you.
Ricky: How much do I get paid?
Agent: No money involved just pure PR material you gotta volunteer for PETA. If you do you'll get some much needed publicity and maybe someone will hire you. Pink and Stella McCartney are in it.
Ricky: I can't do that, last week I walked into McDonald's wearing a fur coat and ordered 3 big macs
Agent: You are doing it and that is final. Also stay away from that Pink bitch, I don't need her feeding you that scientology crap.
So does anyone have any quotes from Ricky on this. Is he genuinly a good guy that has an interest in PETA. At least even if it was for the wrong reasons he is at least doing the right thing.
