Who are the top MMA fighters in the world? Our analysis shows who the best pound for pound MMA/UFC fighter in the world is and why.
#5 Cain Velasquez
Cain Velasquez has dominated all fighters and will now get a shot at champion Brock Lesnar. He took out big Nog by knockout and there is no reason to believe that Cain has a good chance of dethroning the current heavy weight champion. Until he does that he'll remain outside the top 3 best MMA fighters.
#4 Anderson Silva
Despite getting owned by Chael Sonnen in his last fight he is still one of the most feared fighters and one of the best in the game. The spider is still too good and maybe he is just getting bored with the competition.
#3 Brock Lesnar
He is still the champion despite nearly getting dethroned by Shane Carwin. He is still a beast and a hard guy to knock down or take down. He will still remain a favorite in all his fights even against Velasquez.
#2 Georges St-Pierre
GSP is just too good. Georges "Rush" St-Pierre is the welterweight champion and not losing any time soon. His game is tough to beat and nobody has found an answer for him. His wresting is perfect and his standup almost seems flawless. Of course he will stick to what he knows best which is taking down opponents and making them pay.
#1 Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
Shogun is the light heavyweight UFC champion and he did it by beating Lyoto Machida twice, although the first time the judges gave the victory to Machida which prompted a huge fan outcry for a rematch. In that rematch Shogun made no mistake and didn't give the judges a chance to rip him off a second time. He knocked the former champ out silly and left you wondering if this guy is still alive.
There you have it, Mauricio Shogun Rua is the best pound for pound fighter in the world
