NBA is back & tipster advice

The NBA is finally back although the season would be far more exciting if Mark Cuban and David Stern didn't fuck up the Chris Paul trade to the Lakers. It is nice to have the NBA back to bet on but people have to wonder if it is time for David Stern to exit the league as commissioner.

NBA is Back

The teams everyone will be talking about for the 2012 season will be the new look LA Clippers, an even strong Dallas Mavericks, a matured and stronger Chicago Bulls, the useless Miami Hate (Heat) and the weakened LA Lakers. The Lakers were supposed to be one of 4 super teams but Mark Cuban and David Stern teamed up to void the trade and steal Lamar Odom for next to nothing, well done boys. At least the LA Clippers will make for an entertaining season.

Tipster Advice

I have recently been looking for NBA tipsters with a proven track record so I can try to make some extra money this season. I used to visit a few sites that had free tips but their track records were not the best. So I found a few NBA tipsters that charge money for their tips and the costs were all over the place. I had to ask friends which ones they use and I have at least one worth recommending. If you know of a good tipster please submit a comment.

They have computer generated tips and a consistent record of winning. I don't really like the WNBA but my friends have used their picks and made good money. Personally I'd rather bet on games I like to watch and can find.  

There are other tipsters like docsports but it costs $29/day which I can't really expect to dish out this kind of money on a daily basis!

This year has been full of top news stories. They have made the headlines because they were either shocking, sad or made the history books. Top news stories keep people interested, draws us in and gives America something to discuss. Without news, our lives would be boring and we would be unaware of what is going on in our world. Continue reading to recap the top seven news stories that had an impact on America.

Japan’s Earthquake and Tsunami

In March of 2011 tragedy struck Japan in the form of a series of natural disasters. The earthquake caused so much damage and killed many of Japan’s people. Then a tsunami hit and caused more death and devastation. People all around felt for Japan and did all that they could to help.

Osama Bin Laden Killing

The then al-Qaeda leader was killed in Pakistan on May 2, 2011. Bin Laden led the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade center that killed many people and affected America. Operation Neptune spear was ordered by President Obama. During Operation Neptune Spear, the CIA and Navy SEALs raided Bin Laden compound and buried his body at sea.

The Death of Steve Jobs

The death of Apple chief Steve Jobs was a top news story of the year. The mastermind behind Apples top products such as the iPhone and iPad lost his fight with pancreatic cancer at age 56. He died peacefully and was surrounded by his family before his passing. Many were shocked by his passing but continue to remember him as a brilliant innovator who made a positive impact on the world.

The Debt Ceiling Crisis

The debate causing debt ceiling crisis was a major financial crisis in the United States. The debt ceiling was in crisis but nothing was being done about it. Eventually a deal was reached. The deal raised the debt ceiling and future government spending will be reduced. Some agreed with the decision but future debates about this issue are expected to occur in the future.

New York Legalizes Same Sex Marriage

With the encouragement of Gov. Andrew Cuomo lawmakers decided to pass the law allowing same sex couples to get married. This issue is present in several states and is not going away. When New York took this step, gay individuals all across the world were ecstatic. Although this was a happy moment for some, others such as antigay groups were not happy about the decision.

Gabrielle Gifford Shooting

Gabrielle Gifford’s shooting was the headline for all the news stations as well as the papers. An assailant opened fire outside a grocery store in Arizona. It was an assassination attempt that left the congressional representative in critical condition and killed six innocent bystanders. Thirteen others were wounded.

The Royal Wedding

Everyone was watching when Prince William married his long time love Kate Middleton. The wedding made the headlines for weeks and the broadcasted ceremony was beautiful. Everyone was watching when William and Kate became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

European Debt Problems Continue to Fester

Stock markets around the world have been held hostage in recent months over the ongoing sovereign debt crisis in Europe, fearing that a disjointed European Union will fail to unite to stop the bleeding before a cascade of defaults and bankruptcies threaten to take down the entire world economic system.

The focus of this entire crisis has centered around Greece, where ballooning budget deficits have threatened to bankrupt the nation. As investors began to question the ability of the Greek government to pay off its obligations, interest rates skyrocketed, thereby burdening Greece with ever higher interest payments.

It soon became apparent that Greece was not going to be able to survive under the burdensome debt load. Even worse, the worries concerning Greece were spreading to other nations in southern Europe, especially in Italy where rising budge tensions eventually forced out their former prime minister, Silvio Berlusconi.

With fears of contagion quickly developing, the European Union has attempted to wall off Greece from the rest of Europe in the hopes of stopping a crisis before it spirals out of control. However, this has been much easier said than done. The more stable European nations, especially Germany and France, have been squabbling about the logistics of a bailout and the amount of money needed to properly fix the problem.

Although the European Union created the European Financial Stability Facility to address this problem, there are still fears among many economist and government leaders that the various European countries have not adequately funded it.

Much of the debate is spent trying to figure out how the pain will be distributed among the various interested parties. Countries like Germany want the debt-ridden countries to adopt tougher austerity measures in order to reduce budget deficits, but countries like Greece are reluctant to reduce spending at a time when their economy is have a difficult time recovering from a recession.

Alternatively, Greece wants their bondholders to take a bigger haircut, meaning they would get a smaller return than previously expected. Indeed, private bondholders, including many European banks, have already accepted a 50 percent haircut on their holdings. However, it remains to be determined whether it will be enough.

Starting with Top Free Apps

Documents to Go: Helps you carry all your excel and word documents. You will want to upgrade to the paid version for full functionality.

OpenOffice: If you don't like Microsoft you can use openoffice documents which is free. The only downside is you cannot open docx or xlsx files which you need Microsofts version. Most people don't use this anyways.

Box: This is a cool cloud storage hosting program. Great for working with clients. Also if you need clients to upload large files to you and don't want to do it through email use Box, also known as box.net and get the job done the best way.

Skype: You need this for your tablet or mobile phones. Important for messaging, video conferencing and screensharing.

Facebook: Great business app as long as you don't waste time on facebook. Also great app to use for conferences when all else fails.

LinkedIn: Another must have app for business men. This is also a useful messaging service.

Astrid Tasks: Get your tasks done with this app. The only downside is this app is too dark, on the upside maybe it saves more power.

Remember the Milk: Same thing as Astrid just different company for doing the same thing, marking down your to do lists and getting things done, as in GTD. This app is far easier on the eyes but they used to charge money to make it useful but they have since gone back on their deal so you can still use it functionally for free.
