How to Share Your Faith...

As a mother, I don't like this at all. I wouldn't have wanted anyone targeting my children like this.
There's a "how to" aimed at others as well.
Some discussion from a Jewish perspective here.

I find it offensive. They can take their witnessing crap and stuff it. They'd be ever so grateful if we targeted their children.

Hey, they're right on when it comes to this: "Bottom line with an atheist (or anyone else for that matter) - you cannot argue someone to faith in Christ, but you can (and should) live such a Christlike life that those around you sense something different, which opens the door for you to explain the 'evidence'."
I have no problem with THAT. Live a good life, treat people with dignity and respect, and if they're curious, sandbag 'em.
Of course, their Jedi mind tricks won't work on Юä-¦-ërvØ¡, but I don't mind 'em trying. Humans are ambulatory hamburger, nothing more, nothing less.

Awful... just awful on so many different levels...

I'm offended also and I'm a Christian. I wouldn't have allowed my children to be a part of this hypocrisy. I will go a step further and say I'm ashamed that people who supposedly believe as I feel there is a need to belittle another when what I've always been taught is acceptance is what God does and that is what we must do. It doesn't mean we have to BE like everyone because obviously we aren't. It doesn't mean we have to BE the same religion because obviously everyone it not (I might add in the Christian religion there are so many because they can't even get THAT down pat!) :-) I'm glad you brought this to light Gail. It makes me sad and uncomfortable, but it also gives me a chance to say IT AIN'T RIGHT!!! (and we aren't all like that). Thanks.

Alisa: I did agonize a bit over posting this, not wanting to offend you and other Christians who visit this blog, but I thought it was important to put it out there to give everyone and anyone a chance to say what they thought. Thank YOU for commenting, my friend.
You have nothing to feel sad and uncomfortable about. I know that every Christian doesn't think alike just like every Jew doesn't think alike. And believe me, I am well aware that some Jews say and do some very cringeworthy things at times.
Humans can be frustrating creatures.

First of all, you shouldn't have given this a 2nd thought to post, it's your blong! Secondly, I think I've said to you if not on this blog, "I" have gotten into discussions with differing of approach on the title of this particular post with supposedly my own kind! The thing is respect. I may not agree with someone on anything, including religion, but I always try to respect their right(s) and I always want to hear them out. How better for all us to learn! I guess I also expect equal time. This cramming anything down someone's throat is just wrong, I don't care who you are :-) or what you are :-) or where you are :-). Even the Oval office. heh heh I am glad you posted this or I wouldn't have known. I am in the process of sending it to everyone I know who has children and may not know what they are learning!

I have not been shy about my disdain for Southern Baptists. I find the whole evangelical-borne-againe movement to be pompous piety and extremely obnoxious.
I am not hesitant in my abhorence of those who seek to entrap others in the "mind-F--K" (to use a 1960's espression) of their religion.
I have found that those who quietly practice their religion and live their lives in peace and balance are 1) great people 2) the best advertisements for their religion. If I am looking-I will notice... I will inquire. I will learn more. I will grow and expand my understanding.
Jam your religion at me and I will resist... Such arrogance speaks of the slave master who would snare and control another human... These people are my enemies...
Yep... channeling some warrior ethos tonight... I come from a long line of people who have stiff-red necks. We resisted the yoke and we resist the bowing and humbling before any other... This strain of thought has been absent from our literature for too long. We encourage the sheep, the safety and security of the slave quarters... we dare not trust our fate to our own abilities and our own benevolent spirits...
Now to go enjoy some chocolate bread pudding...
