How the Left Helps America's Enemies

Take it from this old KGB hand: The left is abetting America's enemies with its intemperate attacks on President Bush...I spent decades scrutinizing the U.S. from Europe, and I learned that international respect for America is directly proportional to America's own respect for its president....Sowing the seeds of anti-Americanism by discrediting the American president was one of the main tasks of the Soviet-bloc intelligence community during the years I worked at its top levels. This same strategy is at work today, but it is regarded as bad manners to point out the Soviet parallels.

Lt. Gen. Pacepa is the highest-ranking intelligence official ever to have defected from the Soviet bloc.

When Pacepa points out that the left is helping America's enemies by tearing down its leadership in the same way the Soviets did - perhaps we should listen.

He notes the advantages of living in America, writing, "During these years I have lived here under five presidents--some better than others--but I have always felt that I was living in paradise. My American citizenship has given me a feeling of pride, hope and security that is surpassed only by the joy of simply being alive."

Those from Eastern Bloc countries, who have experienced life behind the "iron curtain," are able to appreciate the US in a way that many who have lived here all their lives seem to be unable to do. They serve for us as first-hand witnesses to and experts in the REAL differences between freedom and slavery. When one grows up in freedom for one's entire life, the ability to discern these differences may be stunted. This sadly seems to be the case on the left half of the US political spectrum, which continually denies freedom's existence in this country.
