First Shots
First ever pics taken (by me) using a new close up lens attachment (a magnifying lens) on a Sony DSC-H5:
Close up of the lens storage bag, in case you are curious.
So far, I love the camera except for the problem that many have mentioned with it - very short battery life. Carrying an extra set of charged batteries will solve that, though. I took some pics in my bedroom early this morning before it became completely light. It was incredible - the camera compensated (it was on auto - I had nothing to do with it) and the photos came out looking like they were taken in broad daylight. Next experiment: Taking pics using only ambient light and no flash.

Awesome!!! YAYAYAYA! We'll be watching this space. And do you flickr?

: ) <----Big grin.
I hope one day my shots are half as good as yours, Shirl. 1/3 as good, even!
Have you ever posted anything about the equipment you use? Or is that like asking a great cook to give up a secret recipe?
I haven't Flicr'd yet, but perhaps I will one of these days when I have the time to sit down and figure out how to set it up.

Methinks you are WAY too kind, Gail. I'm just an enthusiastic dabbler. You're a much better photographer than I am, I can see that by the few pictures you've shared with us. And now, these on this post and the next . . . Wonderful!
My toy is a Fuji Fine-pix point-and-shoot. I had wanted to move to a DSLR this year (I still play with my Olympus SLR sometimes) but budget constraints occurred. Maybe next year.

I can't even imagine what you would do with an SLR, you get such amazing results with your point and shoot. Your shots of the farm, the animals - and the cat peering through the window. Really terrific!
The camera I bought is a middle ground between point and shoot and SLR. It cost a lot less than an SLR, but offers some fun options that point and shoots don't have.
My pics are all smoke and mirrors, honestly, nothing special. But I intend to learn what I can and improve.
